To benefit Grameen Foundation's poverty-fighting programs

On April 5, Grameen Foundation partners and staff from across the world gathered to celebrate 14 years of providing transformative small loans and technology solutions to help struggling families break the cycle of poverty. With the support of people like you, our ability to help the poorest has grown significantly since our founding in 1997. What started with $6,000 in seed funding from Professor Muhammad Yunus and the entrepreneurial spirit of President, CEO and founder Alex Counts has become one of the world’s most innovative microfinance and technology-for-development organizations, helping to empower millions of the world’s poor.

At the Gala, we welcomed leading bankers, corporate executives, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists from New York City and beyond for a night of reflection and celebration. Corporate volunteers shared their experiences from the field, while Grameen Foundation Board members and staff discussed the challenges and opportunities of the microfinance and technology-for-development sectors.

The 583 Park Avenue venue, designed by the renowned firm of Delano & Aldrich, was completed in 1923 and recently redesigned to be one of New York’s premier event facilities. The outstanding food, unparalleled service and, above all, the opportunity to meet some of the top strategists in the world of microfinance and technology-for-development made this an evening to remember.

Individual tickets sold for $1,000 per person. Table sponsorships, which included 10 seats, sold for $10,000, $25,000 and $50,000.

At Grameen Foundation our goal is simple – we want to see poor people, especially the poorest and those living in harder to reach areas, have access to microfinance and technology and, as a result of access to these services, move themselves out of poverty. We envision a world where the poor have broken the generational chain of poverty and lead lives of respect, dignity and opportunity.
