Grameen Foundation : Get involved : What Friends are Saying : Brinlee and James' Story

Brinlee Kramer and James Jackson Jr.'s Story

SKS Schoolchildren
Children of Narayankhed village in Indian state Andhra Pradesh participating in local partner SKS' pre-school program.

"Years ago, when I was living and working in India I read inspiring articles by Muhammad Yunus, Founder of the Grameen Bank. I saw first hand the impact that credit had on entrepreneurial women, which resulted in improved health, education, and self-respect for the family.

Our monthly reoccurring donation to Grameen Foundation to help expand access to microfinance is a great investment that keeps on giving, both across a population and down through the generations. Because almost all loans are repaid, the original investment can be multiplied over and over again for years to come, allowing a single donation to change the lives of tens or even hundreds of people. A donor's money is still at work for years after they've forgotten all about sending it.

We make monthly reoccurring online donations because we certainly don't want a busy or distracted month for us to result in somebody not getting the microloan they need to improve the rest of their life and their children's lives. Plus, when something especially wonderful has happened for us or we're feeling particularly fortunate, we make an additional donation to share the good fortune with others."
