Position Title: Mobile Financial Services Consultant
Status: Consultant
Location: Manila
Date: December to May 2012

Job Summary: The goals for this consultancy position are to determine strategic partners, model and develop a collaborative approach through a funding proposal in such a way that we deliver greater value to the Poor. The consultant will be responsible for creating a solution-oriented approach to leverage mobile financial services for the poor. This consultancy offers an opportunity to truly set the example and catalyse the sector around financial inclusion.

Reporting and relationships: The Consultant will report to the Director of Mobile Financial Services and will have a dotted line reporting relationship with the Asia Regional Director.

Availability: The Consultant, Mobile Financial Services will be expected to work the necessary amount of time to complete deliverables. The position will require extensive travel within the Philippines.

Essential Job Functions
• Assist team in refining the vision, concept and road map for our products and defining key stakeholders to partner with to deliver on that vision;
• Create relationships with potential implementation collaborators;
• Work with volunteer to review gap analysis and build into overall roadmap;
• Establishing the roles and responsibilities of the various partners as well as metrics to deliver success and impactful outcomes;
• In conjunction with strategic implementation partner(s) develop a high level sustainable business model for an MNO-agnostic MFS ‘backbone’;
• Defining and developing a business proposal in conjunction with partners in order to seek funding;
• Identify, explore and pursue project funding options/opportunities;
• Research and identify new opportunities for Grameen to innovate through Mobile Financial services on behalf of the poor in the Philippines

Education and Experience
• Bachelor Degree required
• Deep commitment to eradication of poverty and alignment with Grameen Foundation’s mission
• Ability to gain working knowledge of GFUSA's policies, procedures, and practices;
• Ability to act as a representative of GFUSA to the public;
• Entrepreneurial experience: New product development, growth initiatives and start-up experience essential;
• At least a 10+ year professional career with significant experience in new product development and launch (business or technology side; Experience in defining and directing complex, cross-functional projects involving technology, organizational coordination and process management;
• Experience developing products across multiple cultures and geographies a plus;
• Self-starter, used to working with limited organizational administrative support and technical supervision;
• Ability to excel in collaborative cross functional, matrixed team environment.
• Demonstrable, recent hands-on experience
• Excellent team working and problemâ€solving skills;
• Familiarity with new product development, innovative service delivery channels such as ATMs, Point of Sale software (POSs), and mobile phone banking, the complex linkages between new products/services and IT;
• Excellent organizational and communications skills;
• Strong imagination and ideation skills;
• Superior interpretive and problem solving skills;
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with strong ability to influence and build consensus;
• Good understanding of the work culture in non-profit organizations and an ability to balance efficient project management with capacity building and partner empowerment; and
• Articulate written and verbal skills.

Physical and Environmental Conditions (This is standard on all descriptions; no need to edit this)
This position does not require unusual demands for physical effort. This position may occasionally require physical effort to lift and transport boxes weighing no more than 50 pounds. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of places such as offices, meeting or training rooms, residences, or commercial vehicles; e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations and traffic signals.

Work Environment and Working Conditions for Travelers to Developing Countries

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to working conditions and hazards which are prevalent for the location and/or country of assignment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is primarily performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to electronics work. The employee may be required to travel overseas and domestically. When traveling overseas in a developing country, the employee may be exposed to: Physical Hazards (illnesses, noise, extreme temperatures, wet or humid climates, etc.) Road Hazards (unfinished/dirt roads, potholes, traffic-related accidents), and Atmospheric Conditions (odors, dust, fumes, smog, etc.).
