Grameen Foundation’s (GF) Capital Management & Advisory Center (CMAC) seeks to harness the resources of the financial markets to support rapid expansion in outreach to poor families by leading, poverty-focused microfinance institutions (MFIs).  CMAC supports MFIs to access commercial growth financing through a range of financial products and services.  The CMAC Intern will actively participate in all aspects of CMAC operations. Reporting and relationships: The Analyst will report to the Managers of the Growth Guarantee and Pioneer Fund.  The analyst will work directly with other members of CMAC and other departments within Grameen Foundation.

Availability: The Analyst will be expected to work a standard work week of 37.5 hours, and may at times be asked to work additional hours to complete projects.

Essential Job Functions:
• Lead portfolio administration functions including portfolio analysis, fee administration, and developing quarterly portfolio reports
• Create financial models for prospective investments
• Collect and review quarterly financial performance reports from portfolio companies, compile data, and analyze quarterly performance
• Perform market research and develop knowledge base of latest industry and regulatory developments related to country-specific investments
• Manage and maintain internal transaction databases
• Perform ongoing covenant checks and quarterly reviews of MFIs’ performance
• Supports CMAC team members on all aspects of Growth Guarantees and Pioneer Fund transactions, including preparing due diligence reports, financial modeling and analysis, transaction structuring, monitoring, and portfolio management
• Assists with investment evaluation of pipelined transactions including review of business plans, financial performance and projections
• Responsible for group administrative tasks related to CMAC’s financial products and other CMAC initiatives
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the group

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Deep commitment to GF’s mission and the eradication of poverty on a global basis;
• Superior quantitative skills with knowledge of basic accounting principles
• Strong financial modeling capabilities (preferably from work experience at a financial institution)
• Good writing analysis skills
• General knowledge of microfinance 
• Ability to effectively communicate with other staff members
• Strong administrative and organizational capabilities; able to manage ongoing portfolio work on his/her own with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated expert/advance knowledge of MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Good problem solving skills; able to apply independent judgment, discretion and initiative to address problems and develop solutions
• Able to effectively handle multiple tasks, changing priorities and complex assignments

Education and/or Experience:
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in economics, business or finance
• One to two years of relevant professional experience, preferably in the financial sector
• International development or related developing country field experience a plus
• French and/or Spanish fluency

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
This position does not require unusual demands for physical effort.  This position may occasionally require physical effort to lift and transport boxes weighing no more than 50 pounds.

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of places such as offices, meeting or training rooms, residences, or commercial vehicles; e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations and traffic signals.
