Job Summary: The Assistant to the President assists the President of the Grameen Foundation with development, fundraising, program and operations tasks on a day-to-day basis. These tasks include, but are not limited to: managing the President’s schedule, facilitating meetings, managing activities related to the board of directors, committee members and advisory council, and special events as needed. The position also entails the maintenance of the Office of the President and President’s Fund budgets, handling related expenses and reimbursements, and working in collaboration with the Marketing Department in handling speaking events and other opportunities related to public representation.
Reporting: The Assistant to the President will report to The President of the organization.
Availability: The Assistant to the President is expected to work a standard work week of 37.5 hours plus additional hours as necessary to get the job done. The position may require travel within the US and abroad.
Essential Job Functions:
Calendar/Travel/Meeting Coordination:
• Manage the Presidents’ calendar and schedule appointments.
• Arrange travel plans and itineraries; compile documents for travel-related meetings;
• Manage speaking engagements;
• Serves as the primary point of contact with GF Board of Directors;
• Manage Advisory Council contact and Liaison;
• Manage all aspects of Board and Executive Committee meetings;
• Manage and track correspondence/ contact with donors;
• Maintain expense reports, handle reimbursements;
• Manage special events as needed; and
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Deep commitment to eradication of poverty and alignment with Grameen Foundation’s mission
• Strong oral and written communication skills including English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Native level English skills
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact successfully with a variety of personalities and situations requiring tact, judgment, and poise
• Maintain high level of confidentiality of all organization, personnel and research matters.
• Ability to work with internal and external groups or work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability while working in a fast changing environment.
• Advanced level Microsoft office skills;
• Confident, sophisticated, intuitive. Has excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Must have ability to handle tasks in a professional and confidential manner.
• Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, strong detail-orientation and efficiency.
• Good problem solving skills; able to apply independent judgment, discretion and initiative to address problems and develop solutions
• Able to effectively handle multiple tasks, changing priorities and moderately complex assignments
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in a related field preferred or equivalent
• One to three (1-3) years of administrative experience preferably in non-profit is highly desired
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
This position does not require unusual demands for physical effort. This position may occasionally require physical effort to lift and transport boxes weighing no more than 50 pounds.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of places such as offices, meeting or training rooms, residences, or commercial vehicles; e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations and traffic signals.
