Capital Markets White Paper

Tapping the Financial Markets for Microfinance is a white paper commissioned by Grameen Foundation USA that explores the opportunities and challenges microfinance institutions face in tapping capital markets for financing their growth. The paper details case studies of recent successful capital market transactions, identifies barriers to replicating these deals more widely, seeks to de-mystify the issue of attracting commercial investment to microfinance institutions (primarily for the benefit of microfinance institution managers), and provides action items for the industry to accelerate recent progress in this direction.
