  • 51 percent of its population remains in poverty, particularly in rural areas.

People standing by goods. In Senegal, two of our most innovative products have taken hold. Jeff and Julia Blue, a father-daughter volunteer team from Washington, DC discovered our open source management information system, Mifos, while surfing the internet. They teamed up with an MFI in Senegal and have guided the implementation of Mifos.
Also, Grameen Foundation’s Social Performance Management Center has developed a Progress out of the Poverty™ (PPI™)  measurement tool. The PPI™ is an easy and flexible tool that is customized for a particular country. This allows poverty-focused organizations to track the progress of the people they serve.
