About AppLab Indonesia
AppLab Indonesia is building a mobile technology platform for the microfranchise sector that (1) enables new microfranchise business opportunities for the poor on mobile devices, and (2) uses mobile devices to make microfranchise operations more efficient. The needs and business requirements are assessed through a global consortium of high potential microfranchise practitioners. The mobile services are designed, built and deployed by the AppLab Indonesia team.
Job Description
AppLab Indonesia is looking for an individual that combines analytical horsepower, business acumen and technical knowledge with a passion for empowering the poor. The Technical Program Manager will report to the Director of AppLab Indonesia and will work closely with the AppLab team in Indonesia and microfranchise practitioners in Asia, Africa and Latin America. In this influential role, you will actively engage in strategic, tactical and operational issues related to the development of a platform of mobile services that will (1) enable new business opportunities for poor women as micro-franchisees and (2) empower microfranchise practitioners with the mobile solutions they need to grow their business efficiently in underserved areas. In this unique and exciting role you will work directly with microfranchise practitioners to define business processes that can benefit from the integration of mobile technology, and will work with the AppLab team to define a platform of mobile services to address these needs. You will play an instrumental role in the long-term success of our work – with the potential to apply business and strategic skills to improve the lives of millions of poor people in developing countries.
Specific Responsibilities
Play critical role in driving programmatic excellence
• Manage projects with rigor and drive
• Partner with HR on recruitment, organizational structure and professional and leadership development
• Collaborate with Legal to ensure all partnership agreements are up-to-date and protect GF’s interests
• Work with Finance on budgets, internal reports, external donor reports and other tasks
• Provide Strategy team with Balanced Scorecard updates
Be responsible for customer success in adopting mobile services
• Become GF’s primary point of contact with the leadership of microfranchise organizations globally
• Conduct in-depth business process analysis and business requirement definition with microfranchise practitioners
• Liaise with the R&D Manager of AppLab Indonesia to deliver requirements that will be translated into features by the technical team in Indonesia
• Ensure customer success by bridging communications between the AppLab in Indonesia and the customers. This includes reporting of bugs and feature requests in a timely manner, and communicating with the customer about progress, challenges and opportunities.
Provide analytical services to partners to help inform decision making
• Work directly with the leaders of microfranchise organizations to determine an analytical framework and set of hypotheses
• Conduct analysis on data being collected through the newly integrated mobile platform
• Make recommendations to leadership regarding social and business issues and help leaders to take informed decisions to improve their operations
Develop, own and manage business plan for AppLab Indonesia
• Work with Program Director to help identify, manage and track metrics for measuring program success
• Engage with experts in various fields to ensure the business plan reflects reality and can be presented to potential investors
• Define and refine the business model for AppLab Indonesia
Become a thought leader and key contributor to the AppLab Indonesia strategy
• Develop business plans for new areas of work with Program Director and across GF on key initiatives.
• Manage quarterly business reviews and actively engage in strategic discussions with the GTC Advisory Council

• Proven experience managing complex projects with a diverse set of stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills and experience. Great problem solver. Ability to utilize analytical rigor to drive improved decision making.
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, coupled with strong partnership & collaboration skills
• Strong technical aptitude and knowledge
• Self-motivated, agile thinker with ability to juggle multiple priorities
• Demonstrated business acumen and leadership skills
• Enthusiasm and passion for our work – with strong mission alignment
• Practical experience in developing countries – and eager to learn from different cultures
• Solid understanding of information and communication technology and software development
• Willingness and excitement to travel and engage with microfranchise practitioners in Asia, Africa and Latin America
Qualifications
• Advanced degree in business (MBA), economics, public policy, engineering or related field (or college degree with at least 5 years of directly relevant experience)
• At least three years of business intelligence or analytics experience, ideally with a top firm
• At least five years of project management
• Extensive experience in business process analysis and redesign
• Experience in conducting detailed due diligence and needs analysis
• At least two years working and living in a developing country preferred
• Preference for people with technology experience (in technical, project management or product management role)
