Established as a nonprofit organization in 1992 in San Salvador, Las Mélidas works to transform the socioeconomic conditions of Salvadoran women by providing microfinance, as well as health and education services.

Outreach:

Las Mélidas’ currently has 1,750 clients and has a Gross Loan Portfolio of $174,635
as of December 2007.

Grameen Foundation support:

As of December 2007, Grameen Foundation has lent a total of $97,000 to Las Mélidas. Grameen Foundation also supported the installation of automated management information system software to help bring their accounting systems up to date and provide automated accounting and portfolio management, and other banking functions.
