The Centro de Desarrollo Comunitario Centéotl works in Zimatlán de Alvarez in Mexico’s Oaxaca region—an area characterized by high levels of poverty. Centéotl is also active in the Valles Centrales de Oaxaca region, where it promotes sustainable development, environmental education, organizational strengthening to generate social transformation, the consolidation of cultural and humanitarian values, and the development of gender equality.
Outreach:
Centéotl increased the number of active clients from 1,659 in June 2005 to 2,272 in June 2006, which represents a growth in client outreach of 37 percent in one year.
Grameen Foundation support:
As of December 2007, Grameen Foundation had disbursed two loans to Centeotl, totaling $197,000, to support its expansion program.
