Michael Eber 
Director of Partner Technology

Michael brings over 10 years of strategic, financial, organizational risk and information technology expertise from the international and domestic public, private and non-profit sectors. Michael focuses on understanding our Partners and utilizes business process automation mapping tools, technology and decision-based analysis to help them attain their goals. Prior to joining the Washington, DC office, Michael worked in Uganda as a Technical Project Consultant for MTN Village Phone. Previously, Michael was a manager with Deloitte’s Enterprise Risk Services group and also worked with an economic and market research consulting firm. Michael holds a masters degree in international business from the Atkinson School of Management, and served as a business fellow in Africa on microfinance and information systems.

Charlene Balick
Technical Program Officer

Charlene joins Grameen Foundation after seven years with the Max Foundation, Seattle, supporting a global cancer drug donation program administered on behalf of Novartis Pharmaceuticals. With deep skills in business process mapping, database tools, system design, documentation, system implementation and IT Strategy, Charlene will manage the technology and strategy work with our Americas Partners. Previously Charlene worked with the Japan-America Society, Microsoft (Visio), IBM, and on a USAID project in Panama. She is fluent in Spanish, with additional proficiency in Japanese, Dutch and some French. Charlene has an undergraduate degree in International Relations from Scripps College and an MBA from The University of Washington specializing in Emerging Markets.


Nicole Iden
Technical Program Officer

Nicole joined the Partner Technology team in November 2007, bringing over 7 years of MIS automation, process redesign and project management experience to the team. She is focused on helping our Partners in Sub-Saharan Africa achieve their outreach and operations goals through strategic information management initiatives such as business process redesign. Prior to joining Grameen Foundation, Nicole was the Manager of Operations at a start-up life insurance company where she established call center operations and the online application process. Previously, she worked at Capital One Financial as a Project Manager and she started her MIS career at Accenture, designing and implementing integrated systems for government clients. Nicole holds a BA in Economics from the College of William & Mary, as well as an MS in the Management of Information Technology from the University of Virginia.

Marie Valdez
Technical Program Officer

Marie Valdez provides technical and advisory services to Grameen Foundation partners in Southeast Asia.

Marie is known in her region to make things happen. She has the ability to apply her management skills or be a catalyst to drive projects forward. She also evaluates existing partners and undertakes assessments for programs under consideration for funding/investment. For over 12 years, Marie worked in information systems management and consulting on large-scale application systems development projects as a consultant to different US corporations. She then spent two years as a volunteer, intern, and consultant on Information Technology in the microfinance sector both in developing countries and in US. Marie was born and raised in the Philippines where she completed a BS in Computer Science, Magna Cum Laude.
