To Muhammad Yunus on Creating a World Without Poverty

Many of you have written to us to tell Muhammad Yunus your stories of inspiration. Some of you have permitted us to share these messages with others. Please share your thoughts with Muhammad Yunus.

My eyes were first opened to wonderful possibilities of how the market economy can be used to help those in dire need as an undergraduate student when I read C.K. Prahalad's "The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid." Since graduating from college and getting lost in the day-to-day concerns of life I've lost touch with the ideals and vision that I held so strongly to. Reading your book, however, rekindled that passion that at one time burned so brightly. I'd like to help your cause in what little way I can. I have a small graphic design studio and would love to lend my services pro bono to your cause. Emily K

Your life’s work, "microcredit" and its broader interpretation to "social businesses" will be the 21st centuries' most potent idea for alleviating poverty till its finally erased in the face of the earth. I believe. I pledge to do my share, in any way that I can to be part of this most noble endeavor of yours. Uriel B

I am a Cameroonian, a graduate in Finance and have taken upon myself to make a world without poverty by starting with myself and my community.
When i read of the Grameen approach in 2002, while in the university, I decided to volunteer with an indigenous organization working in my community so that I can contribute in breaking poverty in my community by designing a similar program for women and young girls.
With my out put after my graduate degree, I was absorbed into the program as a full time volunteer for micro credit and enterprise development.
Through my efforts, i have mobilized 189groups touching about 2500 men and 3000 women for the past two years of the program .
I have also mobilized financial resources to the tune of $1000 to kick start a micro credit program.
Today about 40 women and 10 men have being supported with some micro credit to kick start their livelihood activities.
I believe that , and from my little experience that, give some body poor a micro credit of about $10 and it will make a different in his/her life.
What I need most now is training and internships in similar programs in the world .
I believe i will make a difference in the lives of the less privileged, likewise in my life.
Thus making the world a just place for all. Stella A

Your work is an inspiration to us all. Richard M

Thank you for your continuing inspiration! In a small way, I am trying to share quality educational practice with schools across the world; schools and teachers who are interested to see how others teach but are unable to afford visiting experts. Every movie I make is totally free for streaming or download. I receive grateful emails from wealthy international schools in Europe, but this is not really my target audience. If you have any ideas of how I might best go about trying to reach small schools and their students, I would be very grateful! Sherryl J
