Dear ##contact_first_name|Friend##,
Milestones deserve extra attention. They’re a special point in our lives when we celebrate an accomplishment that’s close to our hearts. Thanks to the support of our donors, Grameen Foundation crossed a special milestone at the end of last year: In just more than three years, through our Pioneer Fund, we have invested $5.5 million in promising microfinance institutions and social enterprises that serve more than 173,000 people in harder-to-reach or underserved areas. To our supporters who helped make this possible (are you one?) – thank you.

Read on to learn more about how those investments are helping clients at our first Pioneer Fund recipient, Yehu Microfinance, meet a supporter who celebrated her milestone with us, and find out about a Bankers without Borders® volunteer who got a chance to help his countrymen.

A Pioneering Effort Continues to Bear Fruit

Esther Chamanga, a mother of two, lives in a rural village near Mombasa, Kenya. She supports her family by selling charcoal, firewood and vegetables at the local market, but never had enough money to take care of all of her children’s needs.

Marking a Milestone with Service to Others

For Carol Weinstock, a birthday was more than a celebration of her own life. It was an opportunity to celebrate the lives of people who are battling against all odds.

Fulfilling A Dream

Frederick Ndiwalana never imagined he could use his financial skills to help fight poverty in his own country – until he found an opportunity that he just couldn’t pass up.
